The reason I don't write anymore is because I'm not sad, we need pain to be able to flow out our minds and trembling hands unto paper..
I saw a writeup like this yesterday and it made sense, but I don't think you always need to feel pain before poetry comes to be. Writing and inspiration can stem from so many things and feelings, laughter, Joy, sadness, disappointment, pain and so many other feelings.. You're a writer if you only need to write when you physically feel these things, but I'd dough my hats for an exceptional writer who doesn't physically feel all these, but puts herself and emotions in the shoes of someone who does, and you won't even be able to tell the difference if it's a real life experience or just fiction.
Writing is more than putting pen to paper, it's way deeper, it's a process...you imagine something, you do research, you learn and unlearn, you try to make sure all your tenses are correct, all your paragraphs are intact, you try to check if you're not misspelling any words, or mistaking a meaning of one word for the other.
It's a beautiful mental work altogether.
An amazing writer isn't one who is always perfect.. it's that person who is able to combine words meaningfully,Β one who puts emotions into the writing.
Reading a story is more than just reading through a jumble of words and sentences, it's being able to feel what you're reading, as though it's happening right before you.. The icing on the cake would then be how you correctly combine words and tenses. Having a good command of English is amazing, knowing all the English words in the dictionary is exceptional but does thatΒ guarantee a person is a good writer?
Many times, I don't know what to write about until I actually start typing and the wells of inspiration just burst open like a highly pressurised tank with water bursts open with force when someone opens it up.
I'm not a perfect writer, actually who is a perfect writer, or seamstress, or hair stylist? But you can attain perfection only when you reach for it, and put in the works.
God has given you a beautiful talent of writing, of styling, but is that where it ends? The talent can be there but you need to grow it as a skill, that's the only way you can be exceptional, and that's where the scripture, "your talent will make room for you" comes in... but in all you do, don't bury your talents, invest in it, do your part and sit back and watch how God will do his beautifully.
